Job Summary

The Grants Analyst will play a key role in supporting the grant management team through comprehensive reporting and analysis. This position involves drafting regular financial reports for program teams, assisting with the financial management of donor projects, and conducting ongoing financial analysis. Additionally, the Grants Analyst will contribute to budget preparation for new proposals. This role is essential in providing the Grants Management team with timely financial data and donor reporting to better support program teams. 

Success in this role requires strong financial analysis and skills in working with spreadsheets and finance systems, as well as the ability to manage multiple requests across various projects. The Grants Analyst will report to the Head, Grants Management and be an integral part of the Global Internal Operations team.

This position is remote within the US, but we prefer candidates based on the East Coast to ensure better timezone overlap.

 

Responsibilities and Duties

  1.  Proposal Budget Preparation and Forecast
    1. Support in proposal budget development by preparing and/or updating working drafts
    2. Work with program teams to translate the technical requirements/projects into proposal budgets.
    3.  Prepare budget notes; Check the accuracy and reasonableness of assumptions, costs and calculations.
    4. Support in ensuring the financial proposal package is complete.
  2. Program Financial Support
    1. Support in the preparation of detailed line-item budgets to actuals for project budgets on a monthly basis and discuss key variances withHead, Grants Management 
    2. Support Head, Grants Management by developing first draft project budget revisions and updates for review.
    3. Coordinate the scheduling and preparation of regular project check-ins. This includes: scheduling meetings, coordinating the agenda, preparing slides and drafting budget vs expense analysis.
  3.  Financial Reporting
    1. Provide first draft analysis and updates to monthly donor budget tracking sheet for Head, Grants Management’s review.
    2. Support in the preparation of donor reports and fund requests Donor reports may include both a numeric (spreadsheet) calculation and a written financial narrative describing fund utilization and other financial elements.
    3. Support in budget realignment requests by drafting updated budgets using actual expenditure data, financial forecasts and other information from the program team, and/or reviewing updated forecasts for the accuracy and reasonableness of assumptions, costs and calculations.
  4. Compliance
    1. General Management and Coordination: Facilitate donor audits and draft memos of guidelines from donors based on donor agreements.
    2. Draft sub-agreements and other similar agreements utilizing Digital Green templates.
    3. Support Head, Grants Management in Subrecipient management, including collecting & organizing due diligence materials, providing initial review using risk tools, drafting memos and supporting on-going monitoring including review of periodic financial reports.
    4. Other tasks as assigned. 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Background in grant-funded organizations, including developing and analyzing project budgets
  • Familiarity with international donors such as USAID, BMGF, GIZ, and Indian CSR, along with an understanding of their financial and compliance requirements.
  • Proficient in MS Office, with advanced skills in Excel and financial modeling.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of identifying and addressing issues proactively.
  • Skilled in data gathering and analysis to produce comprehensive reports; comfortable working with large datasets.
  • Ability to work independently on assigned tasks, ensuring timely completion.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with team members at all levels.
  • Capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Committed to high customer satisfaction, striving to be helpful and pleasant in all interactions.

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
